SPAA (International Society of Precision Agricultural Aviation) was established in 2018. It was founded by Professor Yubin Lan (American) and served as the president of the society. In 2018, there were 42 founding members of the society, who came from China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada.  In 2019, the number of founding members increased to 61, and they came from China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Russia, Pakistan, Turkey, and Switzerland. In 2020, the number of members has increased to 72. They come from China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Russia, Pakistan, Turkey, Switzerland, South Korea, and the Netherlands. In 2021, the membership has increased to 88 people from China, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Australia, Canada, Russia, Pakistan, Turkey, Switzerland, South Korea and the Netherlands.
